I signed with Interamerican Auto Transport with what I was told was a guaranteed pickup and delivery. Pete said he had a driver waiting and if I wanted the spot I need to hurry. I cancelled the pickup with another company that was not performing and agreed to pay $250 more for the guaranteed delivery date. Turns out that Pete did not have the driver secured and he had to find another. The car was picked up a day late and delivered to me 2 days late as per our agreement. On top of that, the company that was contracted by IAT, American Auto Transport, completely lost track of their driver and my car for hours. They could not tell me what was going on! Then I received a call that my car would be delivered at 10:00 PM. I told the driver that I would not be able to complete a thorough inspection at night, but was told I could inspect in the am and call in with any issues. I found a questionable mark on the hood, with was not indicated on the pick up inspection or my 3rd party inspection. Needless to say, the final decision is that it is not their fault and since I signed off on the delivery it was my problem. This entire experience has been one "misunderstanding" or "it is the other guys fault" after another. I will NEVER use a shipping broker agin. No liability or concern for the customer. My contract with IAT has nothing to do with the terms of his contract with AAT. Like I said, no liability! To be fair, every shipper I spoke with gave me the same line..."the other guy is trying to rip you off!" In the end it seems to me that the best idea is to buy local and not be forced to deal with these businesses. If I ran my company like this, I would be out of business. What went from a joyous occasion of a graduation gift turned into a very stressful event.
