This was the first time I've ever shipped a car so I did a ton of research. I got quotes from over 20 companies and even talked to a few on the phone. Since I was shipping a car to Alaska from Georgia, things were a bit trickier. After getting the run-around by several companies and needing to make a decision, I moved forward with Haul away after seeing some positive reviews. If only I had read the complaints on this website... I would have spared myself so much stress and frustration. This was a terrible, terrible experience. I have an accounting background & work in shipping so I am very thorough when it comes to logistics, contracts, and pricing. Despite all of my efforts, I was still deceived and ended up paying $600+ more than originally quoted. One of their tricks is that they charge you $300 upfront as a "deposit", however, it is not a deposit. It is their revenue and those funds will not be applied to any future charges. Although I want them to make money for providing a service, I don't enjoy being deceived and tricked - NOT cool! in addition, I was ignored several times via email and phone even after repeated attempts. During one phone call with Craig, he completely went off on me, yelling and screaming at me which was totally unacceptable and uncalled for given that I did nothing wrong. The only redemptive thing I can think of is that my car eventually did arrive at its final destination. Please spare yourself an immense amount of stress and use someone else, even if they are more expensive.
