Bait and Switch / Lying and Constant Chaning Story

I was told that they have their own trucks and salaried drivers. Then, 9 days before my move I was told that they needed me to mail them a money order for the full cost. When I asked why they needed this that they would not be able to do it so they had to hire an independent driver with his own truck to ship my car. I was also told that it would take 8 - 12 days instead of the 4 days that I was told originally. I told them that I will have to explore my options because this is not appropriate business practices. Five minutes later I got a call from a supervisor who tried very hard to get me to send them a smaller sum of money via money order and they also tried to tell me that hiring another independent driver with their own truck was not sub-contracting. This is a lie. Chips Transport is operating as a Broker. They do not do the work themselves. They lie about deliver dates, lie about the way money changes hands, they only accept money orders, they sub-contract their business to Joe Blow down the street and change the story as to what their "standard business practices" are multiple times. I strongly recommend that you stay away from this company. They think that because they don't post your business to a public forum for bid, that they are not a broker, then fact is, they are subcontracting their work out and therefore are brokers. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. I fired them and canceled the pickup.

We do have our own trucks with company drivers. But we are both a broker and a transporter and function as such. You weren’t asked to send us a money order because we were using an independent driver. It is our policy and always has been. This is clearly stated on the reservation form and terms/info pages that were emailed to you on June 8. The transit time for your move to FL of 4-7 days is also clearly stated on the terms/info pages. With that said I was made aware that our employee that spoke with you initially did tell you that you could pay all to the driver at pick up. I sent you an email immediately to let you know that you could, in fact, pay the driver at pick up. I also offered to have the driver call you to help put you at ease since it was not on one of our own. You did not respond. Finally, we never have used Joe Blow down the street he doesn’t meet our standards and expectations.
