Having something shipped has always been a trepidatious undertaking. One hears of people's stuff being held ransom, damaged, late delivery or no pickup at all, etc. There really doesn't exist (as far as I know) a website such as Yelp, Google, or consumer reports where you can get reliable background on the actual outfits that will be moving your things. What you really need is a shipping broker. They keep track of the shipping companies' licensure, insurance, reliability, etc (but be careful, some brokers disguise themselves as the actual carrier!!!) The carriers look to broker's trip postings to get loads based on where they are. A broker is totally the way to go and I chose Auto Shipping Group Inc. and my broker was Adam Spafford. I am a retired lawyer and had lots of questions for him about how things worked, how I could get a good carrier, etc. He was unbelievably nice and helpful. I probably had him on the phone answering questions for 15 minutes before I was even ready to allow him to start finding me a carrier, a listing that I could cancel for any reason before pickup of my vehicle. He found a carrier with a 98% approval rating that delivered my vehicle 3 days earlier and on Easter Sunday to boot! I'm an old man and never have I had a more worrisome undertaking go so perfectly. Adam communicated with me flawlessly throughout the process, procured a superb carrier for me who delivered perfectly, far exceeding my wildest hopes. The anxiety medicine is in the trash. I now have a goto broker for life. I think I will start buying and shipping things wildly now that I have found a broker who is a human internet of the shipping world. I will be nominating Adam for customer service person of the year if I can find such an award and if I cannot I will create one myself. Adam has made one man and his special needs daughter happy beyond belief. I will never forget it!
