I researched many transport carriers and brokers in order to ship my SUV I purchased out of state. After reading all the horrors and bad reviews with almost every broker I researched, I was reluctant to even use any transport company. Read the reviews people. You'll be surprised at what can happen to your vehicle during transport (damage, trash, stolen items, added miles for personal use, etc.). I was contemplating flying in and driving the SUV back to Texas; not what I wanted to do. So I continued my search and came across Capitol Auto Transport and noticed several Yelp reviews with high marks. I spoke to Mike Dakota and he took the time to explain the process and warned me about the "Low Bid" brokers. They quote you a low price to get you to pay their broker fee upfront. The problem is, the broker enters a higher bid price to the carriers - a price higher than your quote. By this point, you have paid your broker fee upfront. The carrier then accepts the transport based on the inflated bogus quote, they arrive at your delivery destination and the dispute begins. The carrier will demand the difference between what you were told by the broker and what the broker told the carrier. This amount can range from an average of $100 to $400. If you don't pay, you don't get the vehicle. Most people will just pay the difference and start the arduous task of getting this resolved and their money refunded from the broker. Most disputes end up with the consumer getting burned and maybe a Better Business Bureau complaint. Doesn't matter since the broker will change business name soon after.

There are honest brokers and carriers out there. Just don't be fooled by the lower prices and read the reviews. I was apprehensive after all the negative reviews, but Mike of Capitol Auto Transport was professional and everything he said was done with no surprises.
