Late and bad communication

UPDATE - I originally posted this review at 0 stars. Car Transport express contacted my and tried to explain the situation as best they could, and requested I either remove the review or raise it to 4 stars. To be as fair to them as possible I raised the review to 2 stars. They then tried to claim that I wasn't a customer to get my review blocked, which obviously didn't work. After this incredibly dishonest (or careless and incompetent) move on their part, I have returned my review to its original ranking of 0 stars, and I have checked the box that will allow anyone to contact me. If you're considering going with this company, e-mail me and I'll forward you any information you need to verify why you should not hire them.

Now my original review:

Neil with Car Transport Express gave me the lowest of many bids I solicited. The car was not damaged in transport, and the total time in transit was actually 2 days less than projected. Also, since I was coordinating the shipping from overseas with limited access to a phone and some logistical challenges on both the pick up and delivery end, I wasn't the easiest customer, which may account for some of the miscommunications mentioned below.

That said, I also had several issues with this company and would not use them in the future. They missed two projected pick-up dates without prior notification. In the first case they cited the holiday weekend, and in the second they cited a mechanical problem, but in neither case did they notify me in advance that they car would not be picked up on the projected day. When they finally picked up the car, it was 9 days after the end of their original projected 2-day window, but still within the 10 day period specified by the contract.

Furthermore, they were not always prompt at returning e-mails, which due to my being out of the country was my primary method of communication. Specifically on both missed pickups I e-mailed and asked for confirmation of whether the car had been picked up or not, and did not hear back until several days later. When the car was delivered, due to a clerical error the driver accidentally tried to overcharge us $50. That error was corrected and we were not overcharged.

My experience with them was not disastrous in the sense that my car was not damaged, goods from it were not stolen, and the experience has not cost me any extra money, but the delays were extremely inconvenient. Fortunately for me I was not on a tight time table for pick up, so while frustrating the delays did not cost me money. If I have to transport a car in the future, especially if timing is critical, I'll spend a little more and go with a different company.
