1st time doing this, easier than I thought

I was very thorough in reading reviews of all the carriers who quoted me and finally concluded that even the best would have a few negative experiences. So, I picked a reasonable quote price, best concentration of positive reviews, and pulled the trigger on contacting 1Flat-Rate. This was my first experience transporting any car.

I had a little trouble connecting to someone at first (had to receive a call back which took about 45 mins), but from that point forward everything was surprisingly smooth. Working with Marco we decided to bump up the bid a bit as I thought it was a hair too low for prompt pick-up (which was very important to me), and was happy to see that he never tried, suggested or pressured me to go higher. He suggested we stick to that price through the weekend, then called on Saturday to say he had a bite at $50 more. I gave him the green light, then he called back 45 minutes later saying he found another carrier for the same price who would pick up 2 days sooner. Even better! The $900 total represented a decent deal as going rates were probably closer to $1150.

Unfortunately the car showed up outrageously dirty and covered with rock chips, including one huge stone that smacked the passenger's side mirror. That's not the fault of 1Flat-Rate, of course, but to anyone uninitiated with transporting cars please carefully consider whether you want an open or enclosed trailer. When the car arrives filthy and pitted it's nearly impossible to figure out if it came that way or was the result of transport (I'm leaning heavily toward transport). I''m probably facing $500+ in paint work and wish I'd gone for an an enclosed option. Lesson learned.
