Satisfactory service and my lessons learned

The services provided were satisfactory. The price was the big draw for me to choose AmeriFreight. In retrospect, I received frequent phone calls informing me that the order was being worked on. While it was good to know that my order wasn't forgotten, these phone calls would have served a purpose if we quickly reviewed the order. For example, I actually had a change in my availability dates, but didn't realize I hadn't communicated that to AmeriFreight. Rather than "we're working hard on your order," we could have double checked that there were no changes to the order. While AmeriFreight isn't responsible for the carrier, when I realized that I had to negotiate with them on the pickup date, I asked AmeriFreight how I should approach it. What I was looking for was help from someone who deals with carriers daily vs. me (who has never worked with them). Instead, it was clear to me that their work was done and I was told "they'll over promise and under deliver." While the exchange was professional and I had no issues working with the folks there, I could have used a little more help. Overall, I would consider using AmeriFreight again, but I'd be more upfront with my two critiques with my agent so that we were on the same page.
