This was our first experience shipping a vehicle and we started using on-line web sites to gather quotes quickly receiving an overwhelming number of responses. We then performed exhaustive research of the broker vs. dedicated carrier model, looking at review sites, and very soon ended
up in "paralysis analysis". We would find a broker or carrier that had favorable ratings and/or an attractive price but would then find unfavorable reviews. We also saw that the brokers were primarily using Central Dispatch to bid out the work to carriers wanting that route pickup and agreeing to the broker's price. We found significant differences in price between brokers but were not seeing any difference in the carrier that they were supplying. We also saw that if we wanted a specific carrier going outside the Central Dispatch model that it was costing us up to double over the broker model. We ended up going with Jason from Ship a Car Direct based on the very positive Yelp reviews . Jason was very transparent in explaining the broker - carrier model. The broker only takes you up to the point where they select a responding Central Dispatch carrier. In the case of Ship a Car Direct, Jason explained they only take on carriers that they have had a favorable history with. Another reason we went with Jason was that we were given right of refusal before accepting the carrier which replied to the request. We researched the carrier OK Auto Carrier, http://okautocarrier.com, and found very favorable results. The carrier was very important to us because we knew that once the broker handed over to the carrier, our relationship was then with the carrier for damage insurance, communications, and payment. Jason provided timely informative information throughout the process as well as the OK Auto Carrier dispatch team. The dispatch team provided us the driver's contact information, and we seamlessly received the vehicle on-time, in pristine condition, with no issues. We received no incentive to write this review and likely will not have to ship a vehicle again, but this experience as a one-off went very, very smoothly.
