Two sweet guys and a day early.

It's always iffy and nerve wracking making a long distance move. Fortunately, I have done the move from California to NJ, and then back again before. I knew what to look for and what to ask for. This time, I called a couple of brokers instead of doing all the calling and pricing, quotes, etc. for myself. This make life so much easier. Brokers are there to do the work for you. The broker presents the quotes, the deal, and so forth, and you can either accept or reject, and send him back to work. This gives one time to do other important things, like keep packing instead of sitting on the phone or in front of the computer looking for a better deal.

Once I had the deal and timeframe I liked, I kept packing and waiting for my pickup guy. What a sweetie he was. He was efficient, took care of my old Explorer as if it were new and had the paperwork all in order. It probably took him all of 15 minutes to get the car loaded, the papers signed, and for him to be on his way.

Being a writer of fiction, I always think of all the things that can go wrong once my old jalopy leaves my sight. I am certain bandits want to steal it, or a huge freak snowstorm will hit in August. (It could happen.) Once the car leaves one's sight and control, one simply has to turn on the trust that one will see one's wheels on the other side. Imagine my relief when I was called two days before its scheduled arrival! Yay! It's tough being in Southern California without one's transportation. So I was more than relieved when the good ole jalopy arrived, complete, as I remembered her, except for that dust cars get from being out in the open. (It that bothers you, choose closed carrier.) The guy who delivered her was another sweet guy, doing his job with a smile. He had a little extra work to do because my remote key had died, and no one had an extra battery! So he had to physically push it to park it. But no completes from him. He took it as a part of his job, that sometimes annoying stuff happens.
