My mother gave my son her Toyota Rav4 when she gave up driving. This vehicle had 17,400 miles on it when I shipped it from Florida to my son, who is active duty military, in Monterey CA. I had this vehicle in my possession for one month prior to shipping it and it was driven by both me and my husband daily to use up some gas for shipping. In that month period the vehicle went to Toyota to check all recalls and a top to bottom check, including new tires, oil change etc., was done by my local Firestone. This vehicle was in PERFECT mechanical condition when it was loaded on Golden Key's truck.

When my son and his wife picked up the vehicle my daughter in law could not drive it and my son called us within 30 minutes of receiving the car to tell us something was terribly wrong. The car went to the Navy Base Autoport repair shop immediately and the following morning we were told, in the words of the mechanic that the ENTIRE SUSPENSION "COLLAPSED" and was "LOCKED DOWN", shocks and struts. Our bill total $1003.22

Two weeks prior to shipping an entire suspension check was included in the check-up done by Firestone and there was not a problem at all. After speaking to Firestone I was assured that had they suspected anything they would have told us because they are in the business of making money.

I contacted Misty, via email, as soon as my son contacted us and she contacted both the driver and owner as she relayed to me that there was no way this could have happened in shipping. Should I have expected any other answer? IT DID!

After my husband spoke to Harold White, the owner, we received an email with all the reason why they could have not done anything because they do this and that and this truck does this and they never do that and the driver knows this and that and the people they contacted said this and that and it could not happen etc. Well, as I stated, IT DID and it happened while the vehicle was in their possession.

I understand they are not responsible for mechanical issues, dead battery, a/c goes out or anything of that nature but, in my personal opinion, I believe the suspension issue is directly related to the way the vehicle was "tied down" on that truck. Though Golden Key keeps saying it is impossible I find that is the only reply that they would make to prevent them from taking any responsibility for their error.

Once again, in my personal opinion, a mistake was made and they know it and they won't "man up" and that is why I would say to stay away from them. Sometimes the best price and the nicest people and a privately owned company isn't the correct way to go.
