I selected AmeriFreight based on reviews through this site. I first contacted staff a couple of weeks prior to shipment to get me a quote and agreed to a quote which was $500 lesser than final pricing.
I was told that I would get a call from an assigned driver a couple of days prior to move (which was on a Friday). My schedule was open to - 2 days.
- However, when I didn't receive any confirmation calls by the shipment day on Friday, I was a little worried because my flight out of Boston was going to be early Monday morning. Also, I was told that carriers might not schedule a pickup Saturday-Sunday.
- That Friday, I had to make several calls to get a carrier assigned immediately. Towards the end of the day, I received confirmation with a carrier who now was charging more. This was disappointing but I felt desperate to finalize this and went on with the deal.
- The driver could only pick up on Monday morning and I was not going to be around in Boston. So, I had to drop off the car at a nearby towing location on Sunday (fees were covered by carrier). As part of the original deal, it was to include pickup & drop off. But, because of my situation I had to drop off the car.
Besides the issues in Boston during pickup, the car arrived early in 6 days (despite it being a long holiday weekend). No major issues with the car.
So, although the delivery process with the assigned carrier was not an issue, the scheduling issue is why I wouldn't be putting an Excellent score.
