I had a poor experience with AmeriFreight. I was quoted a significantly lower rate ($695) by AmeriFreight than 9 other moving companies. However it was not until a week before my initial pick up date that I became fully aware of why the rate was so much lower. AmeriFreight was giving me such a low rate because they tried to baragin with 3rd party trucking companies to see if any available spaces were available on their trucks on the day of pick up. I had wanted to have my car picked up on a specific day but instead I had to give a range and the very first day of my range I was called at 12:30pm asking if my car had been picked up at noon. No one had called me to tell me that there was even an offer for pick up. So I missed that truck. Then I got another call later that afternoon and was told there was another truck but it would cost me $800 instead of $695. I ended up paying it because I didn't want to have my car in LA after I flew to Chicago. However I still needed a car for 3 more days and had to rely on others for transportation because I could be given a guarented pick up date and price. Then the car arrived in Chicago a day before i flew into town and so I could not recieve the delivery. They wanted to charge me for holding the car any additional time so I had to call in a favor to have someone go drive to the suburbs of Chicago to pick up the car that day since you only get one delivery. Needless to say moving is stressful and not having a company that can give you definitive times and dates I would not use them again. Especially since it ended up costing me the same as most of the other moving companies.

We apologize for that our customer has been inconvenienced during the shipment of his vehicle. Shipping vehicles is not a simple as sending a package via FedEx. There are many moving parts involved and as a broker we try our best to fit all the requirements together so as to set up a successful shipment. We regret the fact that the time allowances caused the customer to make last minute changes, but most importantly his car was delivered without incident. Even though we try to organize the scheduling in a way so that it will accommodate the customer as far as possible, it may sometimes work out differently. The rate we charged is the lowest possible rate for such a shipment. We always do say we bid on the customers behalf to try to get the best rate even if a carrier asks for more. We believe the rate paid was still very competitive compared to what normally would have been paid for this route.
