I had a pleasant experience with Amerifreight, the company in charge of finding me a carrier. Jessica always responded to my emails right away and was happy to answer my never ending questions. She was very helpful in helping me ship my Mercedes from Miami to Los Angeles. I paid $1,025 which is a little lower than most companies would charge. I was pleased with both Amerifreight and Jessica.

However, I wasn't as pleased with CAA, the carrier that they found for me. The driver spent an entire day changing the time of pick up. I waited around for the whole day waiting for him to be ready which was stressful since I had so many errands to run before my big move across the country. At some point I asked him if he would still be able to pick it up that day so that if he wasn't able to I could continue running errands and he replied "I don't know". He did end up making his way to me that same day but the many time changes were very stressful. Once I met up with him he walked around my car a couple times writing down every scratch or chip and as soon as he was done he asked me to sign the paper with all the marks he had made about my car. I was kind of taken back by this and told him that I wouldn't sign my car away until I knew what I was signing. He was in a hurry and replied by telling me that it was nothing he just needed it signed. This upset me because I was signing to hand him my car which is a big deal. I asked him to explain to me what I was signing and again in a rush he told me he just had to make markings and I needed to sign it. It was a couple of minutes back and forth and I had to get upset with him before he would explain to me every single thing on the paper. All he did was mark every scratch or chip on the car and everything was correct but the fact that it took so much for him to explain it really worried me. A week later when CAA called to schedule a delivery date they told me that my car would not be ready for a few extra days. This was incredibly inconvinient since that meant I had to rent a car, and being under 25 you get charged even more per day that you have the rental car. After arguing with them a bit they decided to let me pick up the car at their lot after my plane landed and gave me a $50 discount for having to pick it up myself instead of having it delivered. The most upsetting part was when I walked in to pick up my Mercedes the young man immediately told me that they didn't drive my car. I found it odd that he would mention this randomly without me asking. Once I got in my car I noticed the car had 30 miles more than what I gave it to them with which is about a 40 minute car ride. The car also has two settings, a sports setting and a regular setting. I always keep it on the regular setting and when I received it back it was on the sports setting and all the mirrors had been adjusted, confirming the fact that they did take my car out for a ride. The gas was also half a quart lower so there was no doubt that they did drive it around. This was frustrating because before handing my car over to the driver I asked if they would drive it at all and he said no. The man at the CAA lot also told me they didn't drive it.

I understand that Amerifreight and CAA are two separate companies. Amerifreight did a great job in finding me a carrier (CAA) on time at a good price, after that all communication was between me and CAA. Amerifreight was great, CAA was not. My only suggestion is that Amerifreight should double check the carrier companies they're finding for their customers. Although they did a great job, the carrier they got for me wasn't as great.
