AmeriFreight is a broker not an actual shipper. They found a carrier willing to pickup my vehicle on the exact date i wanted without having to give a flexible date range. I also liked working with and talking to the same person who is dealing with the shippers instead of a tier one call receiver. When a carrier was assigned to me i was given the drivers cell phone number to make pickup arrangements. I was told it would take 7 to 10 days for my car to travel from Oregon to Florida. This is my first time shipping so i don't know if that is standard, but it wasn't what i wanted to hear since it only takes 3 days to drive.

My vehicle was in a condo complex with a security gate and narrow hilly roads. I knew there was no way to get a shipping vehicle inside. I told the driver i would meet him a block away in a shopping center parking lot. He said okay he would text me when he was there. The driver showed up at the condo door which surprised me as it wasn't the understood arrangement. I asked him if his truck was outside the gate and he said yes. We did vehicle inspection, discussed delivery, he told me i could call his cell during the week to checkup on his status if i wanted. He took the vehicle and drove off. I left 3 minutes after him in another vehicle and wanted to see the quality of his truck as a gauge of the type of service to expect. Well maintained equipment vs some old clunky beater truck. His truck was no where to be found outside the gate. I went all the way to the freeway ramps and never found him. I assume he must have just driven my vehicle cross town instead of bringing his truck to the vehicle. That made me a little nervous.

The carrier arrived in FL 9 days later and delivered the vehicle to my door step. His truck was a few blocks away as there wasn't room for it on the street in front of the house. I did see his truck this time. The vehicle was not washed and was covered in road grime and a ton of bugs. Nothing unreasonable, just had to put some elbow grease to get the bugs off. The vehicle was brand new, only 3 weeks old with 2K miles and not a single mark on the body. On delivery there was a dime sized dimple above one of the front wheel wells and a rock chip on the other side all the way through the paint. I assumed it would do more harm to try and fix them. I pointed it out to the carrier and told him i was just going to let it go. I don't want bondo and a paint patch job on a brand new car nor is it reasonable to insist they strip and repaint the entire car for a dimple. I paid the driver directly $1,100 for transport meaning the brokerage company kept $400 something for simply making the connection and their insurance policy which at the end of the day was worthless in my situation.

All of that so far i would chalk up to not optimum but within reasonable circumstances. I cant blame the driver for intentionally causing a rock chip and i will never know how the ding got there.

But the part that has annoyed me is after delivery the brokerage company has been harassing me to fill out this review. I am the customer, i am the one paying, so now i have to pay my money to then be told what to do? That i have to fill this crap out? I have to give my personal information to yet another company (This review site) which will probably spam my email. So ofcourse i ignored their request to write this review 3 times. On the 4th email they told me that if i did not write this review they were going to bill my credit card additional charges for some discount they gave me previously. No time during the process was i told it was a requirement to make this review or that i was being given a discount in lieu of a review. This is shady business practice and harassment. And $400 was a discount for them to simply as a driver if he wanted to transport my vehicle? So i hope they are happy they got their review now.

It is regrettable that this customer encountered several problems with the carrier chosen to transport his vehicle. We always try our hardest to pair only the top carriers in the industry with our clients. We take customer reviews very seriously, so as to better ourselves with each and every vehicle shipped. We also want to mention that customers are in no way coerced to leave a positive review of our services. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. From our overwhelmingly positive reviews, it is evident that we always try to be transparent and clear in all communications made with our customers.
