This was my first experience shipping a car across country .Well actually my second, I'll explain.
I have been searching fro a Bertone X 1/9 for some time .Scouring the internet .I finally located a car in Colorado . I sent a request on some website for quotes on transporting the car to NY. I was inundated with quotes , it was quite overwhelming . I actually requested quotes from all over the country , as I would locate a car which for one reason or another did not work out , until I located the Colorado car.
The first company that I contracted with (who shall remain nameless, although I did give a very harsh review elsewhere on this website) My contact person was wonderful , very attentive etc . I was told it could take 7-10 days to actually book the truck . When day 11 arrived I was a little nervous , then she called and said the car could be picked up that day -no advance notice , and oh BTW the driver wants $200 additional .
Well that didn't bother me as much as the no advance notice , which did not work for the seller . My contact said she would speak to the trucker , she got back to me and told me he would wait and pick the car up the next day. That day came and went - no word from anyone
The seller contacted me upset because he had driven the car to his office and arranged transportation home . I called my contact to find out that she was no longer there . I reached their customer service -so called- and was given the run around.
I contacted Red Carpet Auto Transport , and the experience was night and day. Dennis Carter was extremely friendly , helpful and knowledgeable . We booked the transport and he called me the next day with a trucker . I was immediately sent the trucking information , with dates .
The driver was very courteous and kept in touch throughout the 4 day trip.
I am a member of the NY Alfa Romeo Owners club , we represent over 120 members . There are many members that need to transport cars around the country . I highly recommend Red Carpet and Dennis Carter - he made the entire process painless. I wish I would have found him first - Live and learn
