Our car was delivered unscathed, which was good. However I now know that this industry is flawed and fractioned, and rife with a barrage of scam emailers and phone callers once you enter the fray. There are three main players, and some sub players. (1) The broker, who basically is the person you initially contact who ostensibly manages the whole operation for a fee having placed the order on a national “board” for all transporter driver bid on, (2) the car transporter driver, and (3) the transporter company that either owns the transporter or sub contacts the job to an independent transport driver. It is in the lap of the Gods who actually handles your car and transports it. In our case the broker was honest, but we were offered an initial lower rate, which in the end had to be increased to attract any “bid.” Our car was not delivered on the original transporter that collected the car, but off-loaded at a terminal and delivered on a flatbed truck. 5 extra miles appeared on the odometer at final delivery, which I suspect was added during the terminal transition. This was denied by the transporter company. The transporter driver at collection was very proficient and pleasant. Communications once pickup had been initiated were poor. If you want a simple life within your control, drive your car, don’t ship. If you do ship, pray.
