I was very thorough in my quest for a transport company to move my mom's car from Georgia to Washington state ... reading all of the horror stories and whatnot ... and after weeks of research I opted to go with AmeriFreight because I liked the way that they gave the multiple options of starting with a lower price if you had a large enough window in which to transport and eventually going to a higher, more standard price ... which was also stated in the quote.
My mom was on a very tight budget, so, this option worked well for us. However, as we were going to a fairly remote upper corner of the country, we knew the chances would be very slim that we would get the lower price and that turned out to be the case in the end. We still paid a very fair price at $1450 though as many other reputable companies would not go below the $1500 mark, which we had budgeted.
I was pretty disappointed with the lack of communication from my initial rep Jorge ... I still haven't spoken to him again since our initial conversation, but, I did end up speaking with another person at the company ( unfortunately his name eludes me at the moment ) who got right on making sure a carrier was assigned and that everything was taken care of, so, I don't blame the company for that. Perhaps Jorge went on vacation right after our initial conversation, who knows.
Bottom line is that they did a great job despite the communication blip and my mom's car is now safe and sound in Washington awaiting her arrival. The price was very fair and there was no haggling or weird up and down of prices etc.. They were very pro about that. They listed it lower and no carriers would pick it up, so we listed it higher and they did. Exactly as we planned, no bologna, no surprises.
I recommend AmeriFreight and would use them again for sure.
