Yes, this company has the reviews and rankings to back them up as a good transporting service. However, in the rare instance where "things" hit the the fan - all of a sudden you are ignored and no compensation is offered by them.

One thing that stuck out to me was when they explained to me the purpose of their service, acting as the middle man between the customer and the driver transporting my vehicle. Their job was to ensure that both parties would not be taking advantage of each other. To me, this made perfect sense considering the fact they take a $250 broker's fee (I saw it as sort of an insurance). That cost couldn't be justified if they were to simply take down your information and post in on dispatch for a driver to pick out. That's easy and takes 5 minutes of your work.

This is the main reason why I wanted to go with this company because this was my first time shipping my vehicle and I heard all sorts of rumors how there are so many businesses trying to scam you of your hard earned money. I felt safe about the whole process with this company.

This is what ended up happening -

The drivers arrived in California earlier than projected. That's fine. Most people won't complain about faster service. However, my flight didn't get there until a couple days later, so I had to go pick up my vehicle as opposed to them dropping it off. (Some door-to-door service, huh?) Anyways, I was okay with it until I found out I had to go to Compton, CA to pick up my vehicle. Not exactly the safest of all areas to go pick up a car.

So, I agree to drive to Compton and I get my vehicle. I turn on the engine and gas tank is completely empty (I filled up a full tank before hand), my AC was blasting, my radio was turned on to a California music station. I found this to be very odd but the driver claimed that they have to empty out all gas tanks as it is company policy. I went with it for the time being. Later on that day, I realized all my change was missing (roughly $10-15 worth) and I noticed 600 miles was put on my vehicle. How do I know? I got an oil change before I gave them my vehicle and they place a sticker for when the next 3,000 miles is.

I called Magic Carpet and explained to them what had happened and they told me that they would get back to me in a couple of days. They never got back to me. So, I called them and I would get the same response, "Lloyd, the VP, will look in to it and will get back to you in a couple of days". This annoying process repeated on for 2 weeks. I never once received a phone call from them, even just to give me an update on what the heck is going on. I had to call them over.. and over.. and over again.

Going back to why I chose this company, where they claim they act as a middle man to protect both parties... Where is my protection? Why am I not getting reimbursed? At the very least I should be getting back the broker's fee I paid them. What service did they provide? Simply to put my ad up on dispatch? Please. That doesn't justify $250. I eventually gave up and stopped calling them because it was clear to me that I was being ignored. They claim the truck company won't pick up their phone. Okay. So, why should I be punished? Not even an attempt of some sort of reimbursement offer was made. Garbage. Customer. Service.

Of course, if everything went smoothly there would be no issue and I would have given this company top notch ratings just like most people have done in most cases. But in the rare cases like mine, you are able to see the ugly side of the company.
