Reviewed:Domestic Auto Transport
Subject: 1967 El Camino
Review:22 February 2010: Order placed
24 March 2010: E-mail asking for 5-star review (more on this e-mail later)
6 March 2010: Got a call saying they needed $50 more over their original quoted price.
8 March 2010: 1st driver contacted me (he gave a date that he would pick up my El Camino but never came or called back to say he wouldn't make it)
12 March 2010: 2nd driver contacted me (Elizabeth said 1 hour to pick up. Driver told me he was 6+ hours away)
17 March 2010: Car got here

I had two of their customer service reps said the original price 813 (after $50 rebate) +$100 for non-working car. I really think that a company that works so hard for 5-Star review they sure didn't waste a second passing along the buck to me. There is not a doubt in my mind that the company (Domestic Auto) should have picked up the extra $50. Just in a way to say "we're sorry it has taken us so long to ship your car" or something like that. Anything would have helped. I waited, was polite, and I lost a lot of work due to this delay and I still got screwed by Domestic Auto and the transport company.

The only people who are coming out ahead on this whole deal is Domestic Auto. The transport company is going to lose money having to fix my El Camino and I lost money due to the extra charges and the amount of time I lost from work (I work off shore - not an 8 to 5 job).

It took more 3 weeks. I find that completely unreasonable. I'm sure I will get a response here about the route this or the ______ that. After they finally changed my location in California to a bigger city (something that was talked about doing a week before) I get a call the next day and it cost me $50 more.

Yes, Elizabeth and the others said they were "sorry" for it taking so long. They told me everything I wanted to hear. That doesn't change anything as actions speak louder than words.

Oh but onto that copy and paste of an e-mail. Due to the speed of the e-mail asking for a 5-star review before anything was even done just bugs me on a professional level. Nowhere in this e-mail do they say anything about wanting an honest review. It is more of a give us 5-stars. “It was a pleasure assisting you with this move!" (17 days before it was picked up) makes me think that she felt that her job was completed and that someone would pick up my El Camino any day now. Then there is this jewel of information at the end.

"Please do not check the box asking if you have been or will be paid for this review as this is strictly a “rebate”."

That is in bold and underlined. I'm no lawyer so I'm not the best at understanding what words like "paid" "rebate" and "compensated" mean. I do know that if I don't do a review I don't get $50. I write a review I get $50. It seems pretty clear.

This review may not be the 5-stars they wanted but it is an honest review. I've also tried to leave my issues with the transport company out of this. Nothing has gone right with this whole order and I can't help but feeling I got screwed. I gave two stars because of the fact that everything went wrong. I see what happened to me as worst case scenario. All they did was find a truck to ship my El Camino nothing more and a lot less.
