I realize this is just a broker and the damage to my car was the fault of the transport company they hired to do the move. However, despite promises to help me reach a satisfactory solution to the problem, they ultimately did nothing. I got one phone call back saying that they were working with the transporter and would get back to me. They never did.
The car was picked up and the loading went smoothly with no hint of what was to come on the other end. When the car arrived at its destination, the driver evidently did not position his ramps properly. It looked like he hit a speed bump in the middle of his truck. When he did, it tore the exhaust system off the car and actually broke the driver's side manifold. Everything related to the exhaust was damaged...both front pipes, both mufflers and both tailpipes. Worst of all was the broken manifold. The car is a 1964 Impala SS with a 409 engine. It took nearly three weeks to locate a manifold for the car. The exhaust system was an easy thing to locate online.
When all is said and done, the parts and labor will be around $2,000. The sad part is that I actually paid extra for an enclosed carrier to protect my car...only to have it severly damaged by driver negligence. Then to top it all off, the driver neglected to tell my wife that the damage should be indicated on the bill of lading. He just left.
Fortunately, there is a happy ending to this story (no thanks to either company actually involved in the move). My insurance company has been awesome! If you have an antique or collectible car, I would highly recommen American Collector's Insurance.
Needless to say, avoid this Auto Transport Company. Like I said, they are only the broker...but once they've got your money, it appears they are on to the next customer and you're not even a blip on their radar screen.

| We have made several attempts to have the carrier reimburse the client for their damages. The customer did not note the damage on the bill of lading at time of delivery. Unfortunately, the carrier (Your Auto Car Carrier) claims that they did not cause the damage to the vehicle . The customer called us 4 days after receiving the car to complain of the damage. When we asked the driver for information about the damage he replied that he is not a certified mechanic, and can not check for mechanical issues and not even sure if the damages were there before he picked up the car. We are working to resolve the problem between the carrier and the customer, but have not been able to resolve the matter in his favor as of yet. We do suggest legal advice. |
