I went with Done Right because they advertise themselves as a carrier with door to door service. As this was an antique car, this type of service was appealing to me. However, they immediately came up with an indefinite delay supposedly due to their truck suffering transmission problems in New Mexico.
Delays were fine by me as long as it arrived undamaged and in one piece; I stated this to them when they originally told me about the delays. I am only dissatisfied because my car went 2 weeks without pickup (Aug 10 to Aug 27), followed by them telling me that I no longer could fit in their schedule (after waiting for those weeks), and their routinely changing the story of the reason why my car couldn’t be picked up. They even FORCED me to accept my deposit back and refused to do what they contracted themselves to do, despite me telling them I did not care when it arrived as long as it arrived. Communications progressively got worse over the two weeks; more promises were made and broken, in the end I had to contact them just to find out the status.
The last week I dealt with them they:
1. Tried to tell me the car was picked up and would arrive Saturday (when it was still in the parking lot). This was at the worst a lie, violated their obligation of contacting you 24 hours in advance of pickup and at the very least this shows incompetence in not knowing what is going on.
2. They refused to let me stay on their schedule since it wouldn’t fit in their schedule anymore; pretty dishonest since you would think a 2 week old unfulfilled commitment would supersede more recently made commitments.
3. They said that it is hard to make up their commitments when their truck broke down in "Wisconsin" (funny since "New Mexico" was the location I was told before)
Another reviewer, Brian on Aug 26, wrote about dealing with Done Right at the same time; he had a car picked up in Idaho, delivered in North Carolina. They told him their truck broke down as well, but this time in “California.” The truck destined to pick up my car (and probably the man’s in Idaho) cannot simultaneously break down in California, New Mexico and Wisconsin. I found out later that their government license is only for a “Broker” and that they have no authority for operating as a “Carrier.” So they were most likely they don't have their own trucks, they never broke down and were lying about even being a carrier.
I will never deal with them again, they over promised, lied about their abilities (they don't have a carrier license, but they advertise being a carrier), were uncoordinated, and then covered their tracks with excuses. As it stands they wasted 17 days for nothing. I cared not how long it takes for the car to arrive, but that they actually plan on picking it up and delivering it, it is evident to me that they never planned on fulfilling their job when they took the contract. Beware if you deal with them.
