************MUST READ BEFORE AGREEING TO USE ANY OTHER BROKER***************
Having never transported a vehicle before, I thought it was as simple as getting a great price and coordinating a pick up and delivery time. I did not realize that while the price amongst the brokers varies widely due to their fees and what they think a driver will agree to accept, but these are not guaranteed. Whether they are up front and explain that they need to post to get a driver or they make it sound like they already have a driver lined up, they all use a similar posting system to post the bid for drivers. You and the broker have an agreed price, but your vehicle may not move for weeks if no driver will move it for the price you and the broker agreed to.
I contacted a few brokers using this site (including ECLIPSE AUTO TRANSPORT, which I am extremely happy I used) based on their service ratings, but I also used one of those services where you enter your information and you are contacted by, literally, hundreds of people to quote prices. Some wanted credit cards just to post the information on the board, some want deposits up front, some claim they have a driver ready to go when they really don't, some even tried to frighten me about other brokers, etc.). The quotes that I got ranged from $375 - $1550 for the same job.
Joanie at Eclipse took the time to explain the process to me and was up front and honest, unlike some of the others, who claimed it was a done deal when it wasn't. Joanie explained that since price was a major factor for me and my vehicle was coming from a lesser traveled destination, it may take a little longer to get a bite from a driver, but she would try to get it done for my preferred price. She NEVER made any promises she could not keep. She explained the process to me along the way and was patient with me while I continued to look into all of my options.
Joanie located a driving company, Choo Choo Charlie's, who agreed to the job on a Thursday 8/13 AM, picked up the truck on Thursday 8/13 PM, and delivered the vehicle on Friday 8/14 PM. The delivery was cash on delivery, no deposit and no hidden fees or added charges, no damage. Barb at Choo Choo Charlie's coordinated the pick up and delivery and Bob kept me informed of his travel progress. I had names and phone numbers for everyone. I felt confident that all was under control and that I was well informed about who was doing what and when and who to call if there was a problem. This is so important, who hasn't had an experience where the sales person / broker was overly helpful and available to make the sale and after that everyone is evasive and nobody has answers???
Joanie, Barb, and Bob were extremely professional and customer service oriented when compared with some of the other people that I dealt with. They treated me like a they would treat a family member or friend. I cannot say enough about the service provided, the extremely fast delivery, and the rock bottom price.
