| My review of Phoenix Auto Transport and Elite Fleet Trucking |
I selected Phoenix Auto Transport to move my Toyota Yaris hatchback from San Jose, CA to Denver, CO, with a pickup date of April 10. I was to fly to Denver on April 11. I expected to get my car sometime in the week of April 12. I picked Phoenix because of (1) A- BBB rating and (2) good customer service from Bob Crisp. The quote was $599. Bob did not use aggressive sales tactics, and answered my questions. I called about 2 weeks ahead of time, but the auto carrier Elite Fleet Trucking was not found until April 7 or 8. I was kinda worried that Phoenix would never find a carrier, but Bob gave me a realistic view of the situation. The carrier said they had to pick up the car on April 9 and would deliver the car in Denver in two days, and wanted an extra $50. The carrier also promised to pick me up at Denver airport and drive me to my car. That sounded alright, and when I flew to Denver on April 11, they picked me up, drove me to the trucker's home in Aurora where my car was waiting. Instead of purchasing shuttle bus or rental cars, I got my car a few hours after landing on April 11. I paid Phoenix $149, and Elite Fleet $520, including a $20 tip, for a grand total of $669.
About Elite Fleet Trucking. They are in the Denver area and the manager Ilya was very responsive, and Alex the driver was very friendly. They give you all their mobile numbers so you can talk and message them at anytime before and during delivery. I was able to call and text. Alex as he was driving into California on his way to San Jose. The car was picked up on April 9, and Alex and his partner drove the trailer with my car to Denver, and Alex picked me up at the airport on April 11.
After reading all the horror stories about moving your car on this site and others, I did not expect this level of customer service from Phoenix and Elite Fleet. I expected a lot of crooks and shady people. I think the customer, however, has to be flexible and realistic. The brokers have to sell a quote and find a reliable carrier, and the carriers help set the final price. I really don't see how the carriers can decide what car to take until nearly the last minute, and that's what happened here. The honest ones also have to follow DOT regulations, etc. So basically, not everything went according to plan, but I didn't expect that it would. I ended up saving a lot of money and got my car a lot sooner.
