Magic Carpet did a great job in a very difficult market. Being realistic, since the fuel costs have "gone through the roof", I was willing to pay a fair market price (including their reasonable brokerage fee, & Cyrstal, the manager at Magic Carpet, got a response in only two (2) days.My vehicle was picked-up four (4) days later & delivered in perfect condition. The whole process was very smooth & the actual carrier who transported the vehicle could not have been nicer to deal with.
It is very important to keep in mind that everyone is entitled to make a little money, & with fuel so high you must have realistic expectations about the cost if you want your vehicle picked-up & delivered with-in a reasonable period of time. It is also VERY important to give the broker as much lead time as possibe & to be flexible with the date of pick-up. This will greatly improve your chances of having a smooth transaction. You must also understand that this process is not an exact science & that the broker, inthis case Magic Carpet, is to a point, at the mercy of the trucking carrier. Using a large company like this one was helpful because they have carriers who work for them on a regular basis & that is a huge benifit. Crystal gave a straight, no B.S. answer when I asked her what the going rate was if I wanted my vehicle picked-up quickly, but she also wanted to make sure that I didn't over-pay. In the end, she accomplished both.
Lastly, I have transported vehicles in the past, but this was the smoothest transaction I've experienced. I WILL DEFINATELY USE MAGIC CARPET AGAIN NEXT YEAR!
