I bought a car in California and wanted it transported to my home in Ft. Lauderdale. I found a transport company online not knowing the difference between brokers and actual truckers. They quoted the transport of my VW Jetta at $1200, asking for $400 immediately and the rest to be paid upon delivery. I agreed to this price, thinking the company I was speaking to was the actual company who would be delivering my car.
The car was picked up by a completely different company - Autologyx. The dispatcher called me to notify that the car's been picked up and will be brought to me within 7 days. I had no idea who they were until the lady explained that she was now responsible for the transport of my car. It was then that I realized the transporter was not the company I called but a trucking company who got the car from the people I contacted. Very confusing!!!
I got my car a day earlier and was more than satisfied with the service of AUTOLOGYX. The driver asked for a COD payment of $800 as agreed and when I asked him how much more money he would be getting for the job, he said that was it. I called the original company then to ask why I paid $1200 but only gave the driver $800 and they told me I was paying the extra money for their service to find me a transport truck. As it turns out, the broker take your money and find someone to drive your car for you and then only give them a fraction of what you paid!! So if I had contacted this company directly to transport my car (boy did I learn a lesson here) I would have paid $400 less!! Ridiculous!!!
If you want to save money do not call these brokers!!!! I wish I had known this earlier! Make sure you ask if they are a broker or the transporter!! Don't get ripped off like I did by people who do nothing but make a phone call to find you a transport truck!!!!!!!
Lou is a great guy and their service is wonderful! He called ahead to tell me where he is and when I could expect my Jetta. If you need your car taken to FL call these guys!!
