The carrier behavior was just criminal: after a long delay of delivery without any information they used a threat to make it even longer to pull additional money out of you on the actual delivery. [ View ] | | This is clearly a misunderstanding of the auto shipping process. Pick up was not late!!! We made our mark by getting the vehicle picked up within the 7 Day window for Standard shipping(picked up by third day). It took a little longer than normal for delivery but was still within the delivery window for the carrier. On a distance between California and New Jersey you can expect delivery to be between 7 and 12 days because of breakdowns, weather, loading and unloading, etc... This carrier had a break down, so it was out of our control and the carriers control to deliver the vehicle sooner. Also at no point did we ask for more money or threat to make delivery take longer. [ More ] | | We offered our customer refund of his total deposit when we did not hit the deadline to pickup his vehicle. He instead requested that we continue looking for a carrier and on his own accord requested that we raise the carrier fee too 800.00 to attract more drivers to Green Bay. He also indicated that the seller would be willing to meet the driver in Milwaukee. To accommodate we offered to refund 50.00 of initial deposit if he could get the seller to meet the driver in Milwaukee. We found a driver, but the seller would not meet the driver in Milwaukee. So we found a driver willing to go to Green Bay, only the driver wanted 850.00 to go to Green Bay. We called our customer prior to dispatching the vehicle. He gave us a go ahead on pickup and was ok with paying 850.00. He was also sent a rate confirmation.
As a dealer the customer is well aware of how truck availability can change week to week even day to day. Availability dictates price in this industry. I must reiterate that when we missed our mark we stood by our word in offering to give a full refund to our customer. This is truly a case of a dealer trying to get the broker to pay part of his cost of transportation.
