I cannot recommend Amerifreight based on my experience. I chose to use the company because I was told by a customer service rep that brokers such as Amerifreight make the entire car shipping experience easier due to the fact that they deal with the truck drivers for you. What I did not understand when I made this decision, however, was that Amerifreight has absolutely no control over the drivers and whether or not one will actually agree to pick up your car. I paid extra so that my car would be picked up in a specific window of time - I was moving out of Chicago and needed the car to be picked up before my departure. It was only on the day of my departure that Amerifreight was able to locate a driver who was willing to pick up my car. This caused a lot of stress on my end, as I was concerned that my car wouldn't be picked up before I had to leave. On top of this, the one driver who was willing to pick up my car insisted that I pay him $150 more than the original price that I agreed to pay. So, I had already agreed to pay more than the standard rate to have my car picked up within a certain window of time, but now I would not have my car picked up at all unless I paid even more money on top of that.

I found out a few days after my car was picked up that the truck it was on had broke down - obviously this is not Amerifreight's fault, and apparently these trucks break down often. However, I had to be the one to inform my customer service rep that the truck driver would not be able to get his truck up and running for 7-10 days. I also was the one to inform my customer service rep that the driver was planning to give my car to another driver he met on the road. Obviously I was concerned about this; I did not know who this new driver was, whether he had been vetted by Amerifreight, or whether or not the Amerifreight insurance covering my car while in transport would apply if the car was given to another driver. I was disappointed that I had to be the one to take the initiative in figuring this out and confirming with Amerifreight that this new driver was, in fact, legit. I would have expected Amerifreight to be the one to communicate all the information to me about this transfer. In the end, the new driver was an approved Amerifreight driver and delivered my car without any damage, but the amount of stress I had to go through during the entire experience dealing with this company was very unsettling. I wish that I had just paid more to have my movers ship the car, and maybe I wouldn't have had to deal with this massive headache.
