My teenage son totaled our second car. We had no "kid car". This left us with only one car. Panic!!! Thank goodness a coworker helped my husband get to work every day. I had the van still to drive. This could not last long though, we needed a second car. With a teenage driver and another one soon to be driving, we decided we could not have them having accidents with our good cars. As I told family what had happened and that I was thinking of getting 2 cars with the money the insurance gave us, they let us know of some vehicles in Idaho that they were thinking of selling. My mom wanted a different car and my sister had an extra car that she was wanting to sell but had not gotten to. I started planning on how to get them to Texas. Plan A: We could meet at my dad's in Utah and we could tow one back with the van and I could drive the other one back to Texas and then dad can drive them back to Idaho. Plan B: My mom and brother drive the 2 cars to Texas. My mom can buy one here in Texas and then drive it back to Idaho. These both seemed like lots of work and time. Then I called my brother and told him what our dilemmas were regarding Plan A and Plan B. He said, "Have you thought about shipping them". You can do that???? (thinking of private party shipping from a residence)

Well I got online and began my search. I was bringing down 2 older vehicles and the "kid car" was not worth much. They gave us a good deal on the cars but I needed to not let the cost of shipping make the cars value worth less than we could resell them for. It just didn't make sense to get a vehicle and make the cost outrageous because of shipping. First call: We can ship them for 1,200 each. Ouch. Hard to ship a $1,000 kid car for $1,200. Second call: over $1000 again Too much. (I read on forums what some people paid and that seemed unrealistically high). She said she would see if she could arrange something lower. I said OK call me back. Third call: Amerifreight. Graham gave me a quote for $630 each car (2 car discount). Perfect!!! I can do this price. I said I would talk to my husband and get back to him. I hadn't let him know yet we were buying 2 cars in Idaho and shipping to Texas (minor detail..lol)...green light lets do it!

I was also new to this who Broker thing. The way it works is they then find the company to actually do the moving based on where the vehicles are moving to and where they are coming from. As I was working with Graham the first lady came back with a driver who would go as low as $800. I said I would hold out for Amerifreight. I didn't like the idea that this company first tried to rip you off and when you said no they came back with...well we can see if we can find something lower in response. Amerifreight started low and affordable.

After a few days (weekend) Graham came back that they found a driver who would do it for $750 each. I could either wait longer for something lower or take the offer. Let's do it. I needed some vehicles and I could justify $750 for my cheap kid car to get to Texas.

The rest of the process was easy and I was very happy with amerifreight. Graham called regularly to let me know of where they were in the process. I have no complaints with Amerifreight or the company that shipped the cars. They both were great and communicated regularly. I am usually leery of trusting companies but as I continued through the process, I was beyond happy and felt secure I was making a good decision. After all they saved me a long road trip and as a bonus they came on an enclosed trailer!!! (by the way enclosed trailers are not normal but more a coincidence. I had never seen one of those on the road before.)

The process went very smooth. They picked up the cars on a Wednesday and they were in Texas by Friday but due ice on the roads in Houston the truck couldn't make it that day. Schools had been canceled and in the Houston area we have no equipment to deal with ice on roads. The driver was very quick to communicate with me the delay. Better to be safe. I didn't want to go out on those roads either and it didn't make sense for a semi with a trailer. There were accidents all over the city. They arrived on Monday, the day that Amerifreight said would be the latest they would be there by. Life happens (accidents by teens and ice on roads) and the process was so smooth and headache free.

Just talking to my brother about my Plan A and Plan B we laughed....what a headache they would have been. When the cars arrived I walked out the front door of my home and there they were ready to unload!!! Thanks Amerifreight!!!
