I needed a F-150 picked up from PA (Harrisburg) after purchasing it August 12th - I entered into an agreement for economy shipping with Ameri-Freight on August 12th when I paid the $250 deposit. Yes, I understood that this was Economy shipping and not a higher priority but the advertised 5-7 day pick-up window was fine with me.
The vehicle was picked up on August 30th - 18 days after it was available for shipment; after I had to pay an additional $240.00 in storage fees to the place I purchased it at and after I had raised the 'offer' multiple times and had gone from the quoted $995 to $1,500 (+51%)to get a trucking company to pick up the truck.
After it was picked up the trucking company broke down in Kansas for several days and only agreed to deliver my truck to a point off an Interstate that was 55 miles from the original quoted destination, my home.....another $155.00 for a trailer and four hours of my time. Fortunately, the truck arrived in good condition.
Jorge was a pleasant guy to deal with, a credit to Ameri-Freight and I appreciated that some of my deposit went to help with the increased shipping costs. A big irritant with me is Ameri-Freight's advertised "discount" for both military and emergency responders. As a career Air Force officer, still in the reserves, and a local firefighter for the past 11 years I was really insulted by Ameri-Freight's $35.00 (2%) discount which had to be given back for the increased shipping costs anyway.
To do it all over again I would bid the job on U-Ship and deal directly with a well-recommended vehicle shipper.
