AmeriFreight, is a broker that uses independent transport companies to move your car. The good news is they do have great customer service unlike the transport company that moved my SUV. The driver for the transport company was very courteous when at my home and unloading the SUV. After he took the SUV off the truck we noticed that the running board had been damaged. Things happen and that is what insurance is for. Now here is where you need the supplemental insurance. The transport company is supposed to carry insurance and pay damage claims but as soon as I filed the claim with the transporter they never returned my calls or emails. This is where AmeriFrieght stepped in with AFTA insurance. Since the transporter was unresponsive they were able to process my claim with AFTA. But keep in mind to be successful with supplemental insurance you had better take lots of clear photos of your car BEFORE it gets on the transporters truck and when it comes off. Make sure your document everything, quickly notify the broker and shipper of any damage and make copies of all your paperwork. I was lucky that I had taken these steps and it helped to ensure that I was paid for the damaged to my SUV. So thumbs up to AmeriFreight and I would give the transport company an average rating. The cost to replace the running board was under 350 dollars (so nothing horrific) and accidents do happen. The transport company should have handled the customer service side better and it would have been a great experience.
