This was my first experience with auto shipping. Lesson learned: DO NOT DEAL WITH BROKERS, look for dispatchers or carriers. Brokers will rip you off in a way or another.
I have been a vicim of fraudulent contract with summit transport group. They are brokers and not carriers.
One of their tricks is to low ball you for a descent quote, promise they have drivers ready and they might give you initial pickup date, sign a contract, take your deposit, then they will post your car on central dispatch at the quoted price, keep increasing the price every day or two till they get a driver usually at very high rate. Meanwhile, they will give you ridiculous excuses to gain some time till they find the driver.
After you ship the car, they either call you telling you about the new rate and they failed to find a driver at this low rate, or they will let the driver surprises you at delivery time. You will have to pay to avoid putting your car in a towing yard on your account till you pay.
One final note, do not forget to get a signed Bill of lading form when your car is picked up. Always be explicit with the driver who picks your car up about remaining cash on delivery.
